Seasonal 'Catch and Release' Fishing at Turtle Pond for Bass & Catfish'
Bodega Bay Outdoor Adventures Fishing at Chanslor Ranch for Members
TURTLE POND at Chanslor Ranch contains spotted & largemouth bass, channel catfish and a small amount of rainbow trout which are occasionally stocked for special events. Beginning in Spring of 2012, members staying overnight may fish 'catch and release' for an additional charge of $10.00 per person. Due to very late rains in 2011 we were not able to have a successful weed control program and that is the reason we are delaying member fishing until Spring 2012.
We do limit the number of members who can be at the pond at one time to 10 and sessions to 3 hours.
The pond is perfect for fly fishing and during the week it is fairly private. No fishing license is required. The pond and adjacent wetlands have a large variety of wildlife including migrating and resident waterfowl, western pond turtle, red-legged frog, otter, osprey, fox, coyote, bobcat and black tail deer which are frequently visible while fishing.
Several times a year, FREE KIDS' FISHING LESSONS are offered by the Marin County Bass Club at the Ranch. Please subscribe to the Chanslor Wildlife Newsletter which will send you e-mail notifications of all member events, including fishing events, automatically. Free poles and bait for the young anglers are provided with the instruction or anglers can use their own tackle.
For 2012 we expect to expand the fishing program as well as add two picnic areas overlooking the pond.
