Ranching and Farming at Chanslor Ranch
Bodega Bay, CA
Sustainable agriculture on the Sonoma County Coast
The last 160 years has seen Chanslor Ranch involved in raising sheep, dairy cattle, beef cattle and horses
as well as hay and crops like potatoes.  Today Chanslor Ranch raises grass fed cattle and horses.  The
2011-2012 program involves an expansion into small scale cooperative raising of chickens, goats and pigs as well as a return to potatoe and artichokes at Chanslor Ranch and on other properties nearby.  If you
have interest in being an associate rancher or farmer, please contact Scott at (707) 875-3490

CATTLE RANCHING AT CHANSLOR RANCH
As part of the agriculture program we have been involved in two aspects of cattle rearing for the past several years; the preservation of Galloway and Belted Galloway cattle as part of a program with Sherry Winkler owner of Flying W Ranch, and the raising of grass fed beef including Belted Galloway, Highland and Angus.
Galloway and Highland cattle are small breeds and we have observed the environmental benefit of smaller cattle reducing erosion.  This factor plus controls on the amount of acreage allowed per head contribute to sustainable ranching which is a key goal of our agricultural program.

If you are interested in participating in the Associate Ranch Galloway preservation program or the grass fed beef program at Chanslor Ranch, please let us know.
